Email Preach Him with Dr. Jim

I WRITE,   I WRITE.   I WRITE.
1 JOHN 2:12-14

(12) I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name's sake.   {13} I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. {14} I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

INTRODUCTION:
John tells us he is writing two three different categories of Christian people. I make the interpretation that John has in mind degrees of maturity in the Christian faith. Therefore I believe he is writing to the immature , maturing, and the matured Christian.

By the term immature I am referring primarily to those new in the faith. When I say maturing Christians I am referring to those who are actively growing in their faith. The term matured Christian refers to one who has every dimension of their life submitted to Christ. All of the Christian continue to have a need for growth. Please follow in your copy of the scriptures as we examine these persons to whom John wrote. I believe we will see ourself in these verses.

Illuistration    Poem

JESUS
"I've tried in vain a thousand ways
My fears to quell, my hopes to raise;
But all I need, the Bible says, is Jesus.

My soul is night, my heart is steel,
I cannot see, I cannot feel,
For life, for light, I must appeal to Jesus.

He died, He lives, He reigns, He pleads,
There's love in all His words and deeds,
All-All the guilty sinner needs is Jesus.

Though some will mock, though some will blame
In spite of fear, in spite of shame,
I'll go to Him, because His name is Jesus."

ILLUSTRATION:
A little boy asked the Sunday School teacher if you could see God. She said yes we can see Him in the sun, moon, and stars. The boy said but I mean can you see God. She took him to the preacher and he asked the same question and got a similar answer.

A few weeks after this experience he was fishing with his grandpa. He asked his grandpa the same question but grandpa did not understand what he said. Grandpa asked the boy to repeat the question and he said never mind you probably don't know either. Grandpa then insisted the boy tell him what he had said.

The Grandson asked Grandpa can you see God? The aged Christian's eyes began to fill with tears and he told his grandson "sometimes God is all I can see. Grandpa was a mature Christian.

Conclusion

CHORUS

TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS
LOOK FULL IN HIS WONDERFUL FACE
AND THE THINGS OF EARTH WILL GROW STRANGELY DIM
IN THE LIGHT OF HIS GLORY AND GRACE.
