INTRODUCTION
Have you ever been around someone who was very poor but they were rich in family and happiness? We make the mistake of thinking things or money will cause to be rich in the things that really matter in life. We make the mistake that things buy JOY.

Jesus commended this Church for being rich even though they were poor. We need to seek God's grace so we can be like this church.

At the turn of this century there was a world's fair in Chicago. During a symposium on religion all of the different religions were able to give a scholarly rendition of what their particular religion's doctrines and advantages. When the representative of Christianity got up, he made an outstanding presentation and concluded with verbal proof for the resurrection. None of the other religions were able to combat or to come back with other arguments to refute the resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus separates Christianity from all other religions. This verse of scripture says "He's the first and the last. He was dead and now lives."

Illustration
On one occasion when I preached a funeral, I noted a lady sitting in the front row who paid very careful attention. Then when we went out to the grave site, I noted her standing and once again she seemed to hang on to every word. When the funeral was over, she made a point to come up to me and she said, "I'm of the Jewish faith but I note you Christians have so much hope in your funerals."

She turned and walked away and I never got another opportunity to talk to her. But I thought it was significant that the lady noticed the hope that we have. And the hope that we have is based on a scripture like this and many others which says, that we will not be hurt by a second death.

CONCLUSION

Surely because we have been born again having a physical birth and a spiritual birth we do not suffer from the second death which is a spiritual death in eternity.
