18 “. . . Jesus said, . . . "'You shall not commit adultery,' NKJV

   Introduction

The Great Wall of China was built in order to keep the enemy out of the nation. Do you know no enemy every broke down the wall or entered the country by their strength to over come the Wall. The Enemies enter the country through the gates of the wall, simple by bribing the Gate Keepers. The enemy has over taken many a young man or lady by bribing them toward immorality.

The woman caught in adultery, John Jn 8:3-11

3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?" 6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?" 11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." NKJV

We are not judges. We must not allow our walls of defense to be by-stepped through bribes. We need a standard of righteousness.

1.       Adultery Is A Sin Against . . God.

A.      Ge 39:8-10 8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. 9 There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" 10 So it was, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that

he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her. NKJV

It surprises me that Joseph did not say How can I do this and sin against your husband. But one of the ways Joseph kept from sinning this kind of sin was His mind being on God. Joseph desired to be a godly man.

What was the result for Joseph. Immediate prison because she lied to her husband, but ultimately great success.

B.          Ps 51:3-4 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my

sin is always before me. 4 Against You, You only, have I

sinned, And done this evil in Your sight — That You may be

found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.

              1.           David committed adultery as he caused the circumstances to be arranged. He knew better and he deliberately sinned. He was idle rather than being busy like the other kings of his day. (2 Sam. 11:1-2)

Did your Mother ever tell you idle hands are the Devils workshop?

David acknowledged his sin against God.

2.       Adultery Is A Sin Against . . Your Own Body.

1 Co 6:18-20 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. NKJV

A.          The Diseases of Sexual Immorality. Ro 1:26-32

B.          The Heartbreak Of Sexual Immorality.

3.       Adultery Is A Sin Against Your . . Spouse.

1 Co 7:2-5 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

4.       Adultery Is A Sin Against Your . . Children.

2 Sa 12:10-15 10 Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.' 11 Thus says the LORD: 'Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. 12 For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.'" 13 So David said to Nathan,"I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die. 14 However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die." 15 Then Nathan departed to his house. NKJV

Illustration

A man confessed his sin of adultery and said, “my greatest hurt in all of this has been my children.” In the course of being caught and wanting to excuse my self, I said to my wife, “I don’t love you I never loved you.” That was not true but In my sin I said it. Several months latter my little girl asked, “do you love my mommy.” I wish she had never heard me uther those words, I wish I had never said them.

We must not allow our walls of defense to be by-stepped through bribes. We need a standard of righteousness.

1 Jn 5:2-5

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? NKJV
