The Only Gospel

Gal. 1:6-12

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. 11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. NKJV

Introduction

In recent years there have been the presentation of what has been called the missing Gospels. They have for the most part been rejected by Conservative Biblical scholars. It is my understanding these so called gospels do not even present the resurrection of Jesus.

These trouble makers were called Judaizers: Judaizers believed:

1. The Judaizers taught that we are justified by the works of the Law, not by faith in Christ (Galatians 2:16).

2. The Judaizers taught that righteousness comes through the Law, and not through the death of Christ (Gal. 2:21).

3. The Judaizers taught that the Law of Moses was always able to impart life (Gal. 3:21).

4. The Judaizers taught the necessity of circumcision (Gal. 5:2) for justification.

5. The Judaizers denied that justification was effected by the Spirit of God, through faith (Gal. 5:5).

Life Application Bible says:

Three most important points of the Gospel are:

(1) Christ died for our sins,

(2) He was buried.

(3) He was raised from the dead on the third day,

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (NKJV) 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

If a so called gospel does not include these THREE points it needs to be discarded. It is not THE GOSPEL!

1.   The . . Exclusiveness of the Only Gospel. 1:6-8

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.

A.   Our Gospel Is . . Singularly Exclusive. 1:6

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another;

       1.    If a person turns away ultimately it will prove they never really addressed the Gospel.

B.   Our Gospel Is . . Superiorly Exclusive. 1:7-8

7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

The gospel is exclusively open to everyone. Red or Yellow Black or White they are Precious in His sight. His gospel welcomes all into the fold at the same time it excludes all who want to Pervert the gospel and make their own.

If you were on a sinking ship and had a choice of going into the water holding an anchor or a life preserver, which would you choose? Silly question? Yet this is the same choice we make when we choose which gospel to be believe. Choose a gospel? Isn’t there only one? Many so-called gospels are preached, but there is only one which is divinely empowered to save those who trust in it. All the rest are anchors.

"We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior
s love."

      The Only Gospel. 1:8-9

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--A decision by a local Pennsylvania Chick-fil-A restaurant to donate food to a pro-biblical marriage seminar has sparked controversy in the homosexual community and caused a university to pull the franchise's food, but it also has led to an outpouring of support from Chick-fil-A's customers as the company has refused to back down. At issue is the donation of food to a marriage enrichment seminar sponsored by the Pennsylvania Family Institute. Although the "Art of Marriage" seminar itself has little if anything to do with politics and "gay marriage" -- ads say the video-guided seminar will "help couples apply what the Bible teaches about marriage" -- the fact that the Pennsylvania Family Institute has taken positions opposing "gay marriage" has led some in the homosexual community to say they'll take their business elsewhere. The video curriculum wasn't created by the Pennsylvania Family Institute but by FamilyLife, an Arkansas-based pro-family group. Chick-fil-A's ties to biblical values are no secret. The restaurants are closed on Sundays, and Chick-fil-A's own website says its corporate purpose is, in part, "to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us." Chick-fil-A's founder, Truett Cathy, is a lifelong Southern Baptist and longtime member of the Atlanta-area First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. The restaurant is popular among Christian families. So far, no major homosexual group has urged a boycott, although a petition at the liberal website Change.org -- urging the local franchise not to support the event -- has gained 25,000 signatures. One school, Indiana University at South Bend, chose to pull Chick-fil-A sandwiches from its lunch menu before reversing itself

A minister who directed a rescue mission in London was challenged by a atheist to a debate about Christianity. The minister agreed but said You must bring a hundred people who’s lives have been changed by rejection of Jesus and His Gospel. I will bring 100 people who’s lives have been changed by Jesus and the gospel message. The Time was Set and the minister showed up with his 100 people prepared to give their testimony. The atheist never showed up. He could not geyt any testimonies.
