Valuing Every Life Psa 139:1-16 Jan. 21, 2007
Introduction
All humans have a built in desire to live. God gave us a self protecting reaction to danger. Scientific developments give us the ability to see an unborn child react to that which would destroy it’s life. This evidence further teaches us that Valuing Every Life is a basic to civilized people. God created us that way.
1. The Value Of Every Life Because Of God’s . . Production Of Life. Psa. 139:1-6
A. God’s . . Detailed Knowledge In The Production of Life. 139:1-3
1 Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I stand up; You understand my thoughts from far away. 3 You observe my travels and my rest; You are aware of all my ways.
B. God’s . . Designing Knowledge In The Production of Life. 139:4-5
4 Before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, Lord. 5 You have encircled me; You have placed Your hand on me.
C. God’s . . Distinguishing Knowledge In The Production of Life. 139:6
6 [This] extraordinary knowledge is beyond me. It is lofty; I am unable to [reach] it.
God set up the
manner in which all human live is produced. The details, design,
and distinguishing factors in the production of life remain in His
hands. In the text David relates how God knows the details of
every life
What a blessing of peace as we begin to comprehend God’s knowledge of
our lives. My daughter and son in law will move to a new place of
ministry, and so will my wife and I, we were amazed at how God worked
out all the details. This convinced us anew how He knows the
detail needs of His children. David described the knowledge in
His design, and even gave God credit for his words before he spoke
them. Does God know about the lives yet being produced in the
womb? I must speak a resounding “Yes!” The knowledge of
God’s distinguishing life before it is even ready for birth is
truly extraordinary.
2. The Value Of Every Life Because Of God’s . . Presence In Life. Psa. 139:7-12
A. God’s . . Inclusive Presence. 139:7-10
7 Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I go up to heaven,
You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. 9 If I live at the eastern horizon [or] settle at the western limits, 10 even there Your hand will lead me; Your right hand will hold on to me.
B. God’s . . Inescapable Presence. 139:11-12
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light around me will become night”—
12 even the darkness is not dark to You. The night shines like the day; darkness and light are alike to You.
I believe God’s presence enlightens ever life.
It is my belief His presence is Inclusive, and inescapable.
Multitudes of
people try to satisfy this innate hunger of there heart but it is only
at peace when they yield to Christ. No one can really escape the
presence of God, and any attempt to get away from His presence is
futile.
So from these verses is it correct to say God’s presence gives us the reason for Valuing Every Life? I think it does.
3. The Value Of Every Life Because Of God’s . . Purposes For Life. Psa. 139:13-16
A. God’s Purposes In The . . Causation Of Creation. 139:13-14
13 For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know [this] very well.
B. God’s Purposes In The . . Choices Of Creation. 139:15-
15 My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of
the earth. 16 Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all [my] days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.
