No Thanks and Thanks     Mal 3:13-18

Malachi 3:13-15 (NKJV)

13 "Your words have been harsh against Me," Says the LORD, "Yet you say, 'What have we spoken against You?'

14 You have said, 'It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, And that we have walked as mourners Before the LORD of hosts?

15 So now we call the proud blessed, For those who do wickedness are raised up; They even tempt God and go free.' "

16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name.

17 "They shall be Mine," says the LORD of hosts, "On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him."

18 Then you shall again discern Between the righteous and the wicked, Between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him. NKJV

Malachi 3:13-15 (KJV)

13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not. KJV

Malachi 3:13-15 (NASB)

13 "Your words have been arrogant against Me," says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'What have we spoken against You?'

14 "You have said, 'It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked in mourning before the LORD of hosts?

15 ~'So now we call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up but they also test God and escape.'"

16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name.

17 "They will be Mine," says the LORD of hosts, "on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him."

18 So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him. NASB

Story of very gossipy lady who always had a complaint she came to the pastor and said, “I have a complaint about you, your ties are too long”. The pastor said, “well how much too long for you” and she said, “about 3 inches”. He took out a scissors and told her to cut it off, and she did. Then he said, Lady I have been seeking a time to give you my complaint about you, she said, “ well what could it be?” He said, “your tongue is about 3 inches to look stick it out and I will cut those extra inches off, right now.

That reminds me of the older gentleman who had serious hearing problems for over 10 years. He finally went to the doctor and was fitted for a set of hearing aids that enabled him to hear perfectly. On his follow-up visit a month later, the doctor said, “Your hearing is now at 100%. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.” To which the man replied, “Oh, I haven’t told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to conversations. I’ve ended up changing my will three times.”

I heard the story of a man who blasphemed God and said, If you really are God strike me dead. A crowd watched as this man pranced around hollering at God. Then in amazement they watched as he choked on a flea.

I heard another similar story where a man ranted and raved for God to strike him dead and nothing happened. He claimed victory and that he proved there really isn’t a God. A minister got up and said, all this man proved was that God has more love and patience that to answer the blasphemy and demands of a foolish man.

Thursday Christa and I had a Eye Doctors appointment in Farmington so we went to lunch at Steak and Shake. A rather handsome young man was sitting across the restaurant from us and I thought he is a nice looking young man. As we left I went by his table and noted he had on a very vulgar “tee” shirt. It had the “F” word in very bold letters. I was shockingly flabbergasted. I said to him, “young man that shirt is very vulgar. You ought to be arrested for wearing it.”

He was surprised and embarrassed I said any thing. We were getting close to being late for our appointments so we left. I have though about many other things I could have said to him and that he could have punched me out. Someday you may read in the paper, “preacher knocked out in a fight at restaurant.”

Some of the so called, “Praise Music” really does praise the Lord. Coming back from visiting Betty Clubb Friday I put in my CD called “WOW” Most of it is great praise. There is a song titled

Lord You Are!

I really like this chorus as they sing it very worshipful.

Lord, you are more precious than silver,

Lord, you are more costly than gold,

Lord, you are more beautiful than diamonds,

And nothing I desire compares with you.

I think The Lord Really enjoys that praise

       1.    Declared . . Protected on The Day of the LORD. This is a special term in the Bible used to refer to a period of time when God directly intervenes in human affairs---in judgment or in blessing. The Day of the Lord we are presently waiting for in our time frame will begin with the rapture (or "translation") of the church and will continue through the tribulation period (seven years), and on through the thousand-year reign of Christ on earth until the time of the "new heavens and new earth." (Rev. 21)

Matt 25:32-35 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

       2.    Declared . . Precious Jewels on The Day of the LORD.

Ex 19:5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. NKJV

Isa 62:3 You shall also be a crown of glory In the hand of the Lord, And a royal diadem In the hand of your God. NKJV

1 Peter 2:9-10 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. NKJV

       a.    Expensive:           Jewels Cost the Lord’s Crucifixion. **

Conclusion

In his autobiography, Warren Wiersbe writes:

“If life is to have meaning, and if God’s will is to be done, all of us have to accept who we are and what we are, give it back to God, and thank Him for the way He made us.

What I am is God’s gift to me;

what I do with it is my gift to Him.”
