Looking at The Day of The Lord

Mal. 4:1-3

NKJV

1 "For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up," Says the Lord of hosts,

"That will leave them neither root nor branch.

2 But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

3 You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet

On the day that I do this," Says the Lord of hosts. NKJV

NASU

1 " For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze," says the LORD of hosts, "so that it will leave them neither root nor branch."

2 "But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall.

3 "You will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing," says the LORD of hosts.

NASU

KJV

1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts. KJV

Introduction

Malachi said “Behold” the Day is coming. The day of the Lord

doesn’t speak of one day but a period of time beginning with the Rapture of the church and ending at the GWT judgement.

1.   The Look of . .

Learning of The Day Of the Lord. 4:1-3

3 You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this," Says the Lord of hosts. NKJV

A.  The Warning about The Day.

       1.    The warning in several verses.

              a.    Verses Related to The Day Of The Lord appears 27 times in scripture.

              b.    Some significant verse talking about this Day.

Isa 13:6 Wail, for the day of the Lord is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. NKJV

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. NKJV

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. NKJV

Rev 6:12-17 12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?" NKJV

Rev 19:11-21 11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. The Beast and His Armies Defeated 17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven,"Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, 18 that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great." 19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. NKJV

As a boy I lived near the Clay Mines in St. Louis and some days we boys would walk over to the area of the mines and watch them making brick. The furnaces were very hot and we could not get very close because of the intense heat.

As an adult I have walked in the glass factory at Williamsburg West Virginia and watched them make glass vases, bowls and etc. The heat is intense.

B.  The . . Who of the Burning. 4:1 and 3

"For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And

all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up," Says the Lord of hosts,

      1.    The Proud. 1a

      2. The Wicked, who have done wickedly. 1:b

Zeph 1:14-18 14 "That terrible day of the Lord is near. Swiftly it comes—a day of bitter tears, a day when even strong men will cry out.15 It will be a day when the Lord's anger is poured out—a day of terrible distress and anguish, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,16 a day of trumpet calls and battle cries. Down go the walled cities and the strongest battlements! 17 "Because you have sinned against the Lord, I will make you grope around like the blind. Your blood will be poured into the dust, and your bodies will lie rotting on the ground." 18 Your silver and gold will not save you on that day of the Lord's anger. For the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy. He will make a terrifying end of all the people on earth. LBT

Matt 13:41-43 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! NKJV

3.   The Look Of . .

Yearning At The Day of The Lord. 4:2

2 But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness

shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

“.. . and skip about like calves from the stall.” NAS

A.   We Who Have A Reverential Fear Of The Lord. 4:2a

B.   We will see and Know The Sun of Righteousness.

C.   We Will Experience His Healing.

       1.    The Healing that washes Sin Away.

       2.    Not the Ministry of Healing Deceases or Sicknesses.

D.   We Will Experience His Healing.

It is sad that some in the Christians chase around after so called “Faith Healers.”

Next Sunday if a person in a wheel Chair came in here and we prayed for them and they got up and walked all over town. Do you think the numbers would be larger next Sunday?

What did Jesus have to do to perform healing ministries?

One time He Spat on some mud placed it on a blind mans eyes and told him to go wash. He came back seeing.

What did Jesus have to do to Save that man from His sin? DIE ON THE CROSS. HE HAD TO SHED HIS BLOOD.

Which miracle is more important?

Some take this verse and quote it in reference to healing of all kinds of sickness.

Isa 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. NKJV

Matt 11:2-6 2 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples 3 and said to Him, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?"

4 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: 5 The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me." NKJV

If Jesus healed our physical infirmities and deceases on the cross. How did He do all of His miracles before He ever went to the Cross?

I believe God heals. He may heal you. But all of us will die. How will Christians die if God heals all of our deceases. We will have to die from car accidents or gun shot wounds etc..

Why would people become Christians? I want to get healed.

THIS HEALING IN HIS WINGS RELATES TO THE HEALING OF SALVATION.

IF YOU NEVER ASK FOR THE SALVATION OF A LOST SOUL BUT MAKE REQUEST FOR HEALING..

SHAME ON YOU!

A Person can be healed from some infirmity for the rest of their life on this earth and I will pray with them about this.

But if their not Born Again they will go to Hell for eternity.

I believe in Healing. I know God has healed me on occasions.

THIS HEALING IN HIS WINGS RELATES TO THE HEALING OF SALVATION.

There Is A Great Day Coming, A Great Day Coming
