INTRODUCTION:

One day I went to the my doctor. I told him how I was feeling He ask me many questions about my physical condition. He recommended if these symptoms continued I should have a glucose tolerance test. Following the test Dr. Roberts suggested I see a specialist. This specialist ask many questions. He told me I should refrain from drinking alcohol. I told him I was a Baptist minister. He then said I'm surprised I can usually recognize you guys a mile away. He then said I went to Baylor University.

This doctor continued to ask questions about family, eating habits, and exercise. Then he made a judgement. You simply need to watch diet and get a periodic check-up. He then gave me some medicine samples. He told after being on this medicine for two weeks to have a blood test to check the triglyceride count in my blood. I told you all of that to make this point; I'm glad I have a doctor who will make judgements.

Now if judgements about being or not being a Christian, are made, who should make them? If one has been saved, called by God to preach. trained in college and seminary as a minister, should he make any judgements?

Can you imagine a person desiring some assurance or a judgement from some one about their spiritual condition? Then they go to a minister. He ask several questions about their beliefs and their lifestyle. He ask do you have peace in your innermost being and if so how did you get it? After an evaluations He says well I really don't want to make a judgment?

I think it is a very sad day when ministers have lost their Biblical convictions. Lost convictions to the point they can not or will not tell people how to become a Christian or how to keep from going to hell and to know your going to heaven. Some may say preacher you can't know. You are too judgmental. I say I'm like my doctor. I've been trained and I know something about the symptoms of salvation and lostness. I am able to judge fruit and my Lord said by their fruits you will know them.

IN THE TEXT JESUS TELLS US OF EIGHT PEOPLE WHO WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN. FOLLOW IN THE TEXT:

1.         THE FEARFUL WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN.

2.         THE UNBELIEVER WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN.

3.         THE ABOMINABLE WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN.

4.         THE MURDERER WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN.

5.         THE WHOREMONGER WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN.

6.         THE SORCERER WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN.

8.         THE LIAR WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN.

These Titles will be on Eight Tombstones of

People Who Will Not Be In Heaven

1.       The . . Cowardly Person Will Not Be in Heaven. v 8a

8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral,

sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and

brimstone, which is the second death." NKJV

        1. The cowardly, who recant under persecution.

Strong's # 1169 deilos (di-los');

from deos (dread); timid, i.e. (by implication) faithless:

KJV-- fearful. (DIC)

Robertson       For the fearful tois deilois. An old word (from deidoo, to fear) for the cowardly, who recanted under persecution, in the New Testament only here, Matt 8:26; Mark 4:40. ATR

Mark 4:39-41 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!" NKJV

It refers, not to an act of fright, but to a person's character. It doesn't mean that he suddenly got scared. No, it refers to his character.

It doesn't refer to being scared. There is another Greek word for that, the word "phobos." Our English word "phobia" comes from that. The Greek word "phobos" means to be afraid, full of dread and terror.

"Deilos" means timid, cowardly, fainthearted, hesitant, fearful of taking action - inadventurous. There you have it!

Dr. Gill said, “These are cowardly people, who are not valiant for the truth, but who through fear…make no profession of Christ and his Gospel…lest they should be exposed to tribulation or persecution; these are they that are afraid of the beast, and live in servile bondage to him [held in slavery by the Devil].”

Who are these timid, cowardly, faint-hearted people?

            A.        They Could Be those who are afraid of man.

"The fear of man bringeth a snare" (Proverbs 29:25).

            B.        They Could Be those who fear making a mistake.

Illustration:   TOPIC: Fear INDEX:859 TITLE: Public Speaking

Back in the days of the Roman Empire during a circus in the Colosseum, a Christian was thrown to a hungry lion. As the spectators cheered, the wild beast pounced. But the Christian quickly whispered something in the lion's ear and the beast backed away in terror. After this happened several times, the emperor sent a centurion to find out what magic spell could make a ferocious lion cower in fear. A few minutes later the guard returned and said, "The Christian whispered in the lion's ear, “After dinner you'll be required to say a few words.”

Application
